The two assignments below go hand in hand. To briefly explain, the assignment was simple: come up with a question you want answered using the tools EXIF and BVI. The question that I came up with was whether or not adding a geotag to a picture on social media would make a difference in whether or not the GPS metadata got removed. Usually what happens on social media such as Facebook and Instagram is that the data gets removed without a second notice. However, what if the client agrees to tagging their location? Does that data still get removed? Does it get modified? To find out, click on the first link below to find out what the answer was. Click on the second link to read up on some answers about questions people might have about EXIF or BVI.
This assignment involved working with Excel and discovering all the formatting possibilities that you can do with Metadata. In this exercise, we were given a spreadsheet full of nutritional data and we were asked to format the data in a creative way. After giving it some thought, I came to make the end product below. We learned about absolute and relative cell reference and the importance in distinguishing the difference between both. Working with Excel wasn't anything too difficult and actually brought back some memories from high school of when I took a class about computer proficiency.
Using Excel, we were given the task to find our own data. The data had to be about something we are interested in or just something we found and we were asked to organize said data into a database and onto a word document. This exercise helped us gain competence in using spreadsheet functions and charting functions. It also expanded our use of Word to include the information from this spreadsheet while allowing us to add more content to our ISC 110 webpage.
We were taught the importance of database and how their everyday use can better the lives in even a small mom and pop store. The assignment we were given was to construct a database with our own data about a mom and pop store, implementing key features such as relationships, new tables, and making new records.
